Verify your markets and account types
List the account types and markets your team actually uses. Check each combination during the trial. A product mentioning TikTok does not establish support for every market, permission, or data source.
Ask which records are available after authorization, how far back they go, and what an unavailable field looks like. A clear limitation is more useful than a broad promise.
Reconcile a familiar slice of the business
Choose an account you know well and a completed date range. Compare account identity, videos, and orders against the source. For every mismatch, check reporting scope, last update time, and the reason for missing data.
Include an ordinary order and a refund or exception if you have one. A trial that only checks a headline GMV total can miss problems that will matter at settlement time.
Try the manager and employee workflows
A manager needs the right team overview; an employee needs a clear route to today's work. Sign in with the actual roles you expect to use. Check account visibility, task access, and which financial fields are restricted. An administrator demo cannot prove that the employee experience works.
Understand the cost and exit process
Confirm account capacity, seats, feature access, and any separately charged services. Ask how you retain necessary records when changing plans or stopping service. Use the actual pricing terms rather than inferring limits from a promotional screenshot.
Star Captain's pricing page lists plans in CNY. Compare the workload your team can complete, not just the number of items on a feature checklist.
Define what a successful trial means
Set observable completion criteria: account records reconcile, ownership is clear, a routine review can be completed, and someone can resolve important questions. Expand only after the team can repeat that workflow without the trial organizer guiding every click.
This checklist is written by the Star Captain product team. It is a vendor-authored evaluation aid, not an independent ranking. Apply the same criteria to every product you consider.
